ONE TEAM EFFORTS TO GET THROUGH THE LOCKDOWNS IN CHINA

Due to a severe outbreak of the Covid Omicron variant in the second quarter of the year, necessitating strict zero-Covid lockdowns in many cities around China in order to curb the spread of the virus, almost all of our operational sites in the country were affected. It was a difficult time to sustain our manufacturing and commercial activities to meet the demands of our customers.

Facing such challenges, our team across the plants implemented a close-loop manufacturing protocol required by the stringent safety and health policies of the local municipal government in order to maintain operation. From April 28 to May 5, the district where our Harbin plant is located went into lockdown, and to carry on production required employees to stay on site at the facility.

120 colleagues from various functions volunteered to stay that week, living and sleeping in simple camps at the plant, so as to produce the much-needed agriculture equipment and deliver them to the customers in time to meet the spring tillage and planting season.

Speaking on the close-loop manufacturing, Junlong Song, Harbin Plant Manager said, “thanks to the leadership of our management team, the collaboration and support of various functions, and the commitment and dedication of the plant team, we were able to overcome one after another of the difficulties and execute the protocol to continue the production and deliver the equipment to our customers under such extraordinary circumstance. This is how we practice our new cultural beliefs, of One Team and Be the Best to ensure production safety and the timely delivery to customers, contributing to the bottom line of our company.”

It was not only the Harbin plant that demonstrated how they navigated their way through the pandemic, seven colleagues in the Sampierana Kunshan Plant were also in close loop for the second half of May in order to keep manufacturing the undercarriages to export to Europe to ensure the supply for Eurocomach mini excavators. Finally, six colleagues from the commercial logistics went to work in close loop in our Shanghai warehouse to ship construction machines to customers for eight days in May.

In Shanghai where many of our Chinese colleagues are based, the lockdown was extremely harsh with all stores closed even for essential items. Our company was able to source fresh ingredients and came to the rescue with the supply of a food box for each employee based in Shanghai and as well as those in lockdown in Harbin.

“It was April 21 when I received the supplying pack from CNH Industrial, and it has made a real difference to my difficult life at the time. The Shanghai Youth Apartment where I live was already like a deserted island, having no kitchen appliance, by then I had developed 24 different ways to eat instant noodles. Upon the arrival of the supply box, I gave the fresh meat to my neighbor who cooked it very nicely and shared it with me. I hadn’t had any meat for a month, and you can imagine how happy I was that day.” said Jinhui Zheng, our colleague from our AG marketing team in Shanghai.

thanks to the leadership of our management team, the collaboration and support of various functions, and the commitment and dedication of the plant team, we were able to overcome one after another of the difficulties and execute the protocol to continue the production and deliver the equipment to our customers under such extraordinary circumstance.

REDUCING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT THROUGH SOLAR PANEL ROOFS IN AUSTRALIA

As part of our continuous efforts towards a sustainable future, our K-Line plant in Australia installed solar panels to generate green energy

As a global organization, making an impact on the lives of people and local communities around us, in every way possible is not only our commitment for a better environment but also our promise to the coming generations for their brighter future. We have key goals for reducing our carbon footprint across the globe in all our manufacturing sites which include creating ways for eco efficiency to reduce the impact of our products and processes.

One such commitment was fulfilled when we took a conscious step to reduce carbon footprint and CO2emission in our K-Line manufacturing plant in Australia with the installation of solar panels. The roof generates 178,136 kWh of green energy per year to power the production of advanced K-Line equipment in the facility. This is a shining example of how we reduce our emissions and optimize our carbon footprint at CNH Industrial.
